August 1, 2017•Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits will become the exclusive U.S. sales and marketing agent for Michel Rolland’s Clos de los Siete red blend, effective September 1. Sourced from Argentina’s Uco Valley, Clos de los Siete retails at $19.99 a 750-ml. For the current 2014 vintage, Clos de los Siete was composed of 54% Malbec, 18% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Total production is about 80,000 cases. The brand’s previous U.S. importer was Thiénot USA.
•Disaronno International USA—the U.S. arm of Italy’s Illva S.p.A.—has added Illva’s Corvo, Duca di Salaparuta and Star Collection wine brands to its import stable. The trio will be handled under Disaronno’s newly established Corvo Wines Division. Previously, all three Italian brands were imported into the U.S. by a direct sales force reporting to the Duca di Salaparuta Group. The Corvo ($12.99 a 750-ml.), Duca di Salaparuta ($14.99-$80) and Star Collection ($14.99) portfolios are currently available in 29 states across the U.S., with entry into additional markets expected to follow.
•New Amsterdam vodka is extending with two new flavor entries, Lemon and Raspberry. Both new offerings are a blend of New Amsterdam vodka with fresh fruit. Lemon is rolling out nationwide this month, while Raspberry will follow in September. Retailing in the $10-$15 range, New Amsterdam, owned by E.&J. Gallo, has risen to become the second-largest vodka brand in the U.S. by volume, rising 36% to 5.1 million cases last year, according to Impact Databank.
