September 12, 2018•Constellation Brands is rolling out a new lager brand, Western Standard, to select markets. Launching in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Park City, Utah, Western Standard is billed as a modern sessionable barrel-aged lager blended with beer aged in High West Bourbon barrels. The lager features corn, rye and barley in a a riff on a whiskey mashbill, and has an abv of 5.2%. Anheuser-Busch InBev also recently collaborated on a whiskey-themed beer, debuting Budweiser Copper Lager, aged on Jim Beam barrel staves.
•Sapporo’s Anchor Brewing Company has released Fog Breaker IPA, the company’s newest year-round brew. The 6.8%-abv ale is brewed with malted wheat and 2-row pale malt, and hopped with Denali and Cascade hops plus the essential oils from Citra Cryo hops. The new IPA is the first Anchor beer to begin as a taproom exclusive before moving up to year-round production. Fog Breaker IPA is now available on draft in select bars and restaurants, and nationwide in 6-packs of 12-ounce bottles, and 22-ounce bottles.
