October 9, 2018•Kobrand is expanding its South American portfolio, becoming the exclusive U.S. importer for Chile’s Viña Montes, effective January 1. The Montes winery is located in Chile’s Colchagua Valley, sourcing grapes mainly from three separate vineyards: Apalta, Marchigue, and Zapallar. The Montes range includes a number of different tiers, running from its Classic series at $13 a bottle up through its icon wines like Taita, which reach $300 a bottle. Montes sells approximately 100,000 cases in the U.S. annually, and is currently imported by Guarachi Wine Partners. The winery is led by president and winemaker Aurelio Montes, who founded the company with Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre, and Pedro Grand in 1988.
