Distilled Spirits Council Names Chris Swonger As New Chief Executive

The Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. has named Chris Swonger as its new CEO, replacing Kraig Naasz, who departed in April. The move marks a return to the spirits industry for Swonger, who spent 15 years leading government affairs for Beam and Allied Domecq. Most recently Swonger was senior vice president for global government relations at Smiths Group, a diversified global technology company. Swonger will join the Distilled Spirits Council on November 12, and will also assume leadership of the Responsibility.org platform effective January 1, 2019.—Daniel Marsteller
