Restaurants Set To Reopen In A Handful Of States
April 28, 2020After an on-premise shutdown that has lasted more than a month in most areas, a number of states are tentatively reopening restaurants while taking steps to ensure social distancing. Georgia was out in front, allowing restaurants to restore limited dine-in service beginning yesterday, stipulating that all employees wear masks, tables are limited to six patrons, and there can be no more than 10 patrons per 500 square feet.
Restaurants are also allowed to reopen in Alaska, but are limited to 25% capacity, and Texas will begin reopening restaurants Friday, also at 25% capacity. Tennessee is permitting eateries to reopen with 50% capacity, with employees wearing masks and gloves, customers using disposable menus, and with a limit of six per table. Nebraska and Iowa are also allowing restaurants to reopen in the coming days with similar restrictions.—Daniel Marsteller
