•Edrington-owned the Macallan has announced a new donation campaign, “Gratitude is the Gift,” to benefit the restaurant industry. Through the end of December, the company will donate the equivalent of 30% of proceeds from online sales through the Macallan Gift Guide (found on the brand’s website) to the James Beard Foundation’s Open for Good campaign. Open for Good supports independent restaurants left largely without government assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic.

•Zonin1821 has expanded its portfolio to include South Africa, adding two new wines from producer Land’s End in the country’s Cape South Coast appellation. The two releases are a 2020 Sauvignon Blanc at 13% abv and a 2018 Shiraz at 14% abv that aged for 20 months in French oak before bottling. The wines are line priced at $11 a 750-ml., are Fair Trade certified and now available in the U.S. through Zonin’s Florida-based 1821 Fine Wine & Spirits.

•Rutherford, California-based Beckstoffer Vineyard has restructured its vineyard and farming operations, separating the latter from vineyard ownership. Beckstoffer Vineyards will continue to own all vineyards under the family trust, while a new corporation—Beckstoffer Vineyards Farming Services Company—will now operate 4,000 acres of Beckstoffer vineyards in Napa, Mendocino, and the Red Hills of Lake County. Additionally, president and COO David Beckstoffer will serve as CEO and board member of Beckstoffer Vineyards Farming Services Co; general manager David Michul will become president and COO of the newly formed company; and Maurivio Soto, formerly the vineyard manager of Beckstoffer’s Napa Valley properties, will serve as general manager of Beckstoffer Vineyards—Napa Valley. All changes will be effective January 1, 2021.

•Former NFL star John Elway has launched a new line under his California-based 7Cellars wine brand. The Farm Collection consists of three wines: a Paso Robles-sourced Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay from the Arroyo Seco AVA, and Santa Lucia-based Pinot Noir. Each wine is retail priced at $30 a 750-ml. The Farm Collection joins the Elway Reserve range in the 7Cellars lineup, all of which are made by winemaker Robert Mondavi Jr.

•Late last week, Rémy Cointreau SA sold its shares of Passoã SAS to Lucas Bols Amsterdam. The value of the deal was €71.3 million (roughly $86.4 million) and no further terms were disclosed. This sale ends the joint venture, established in October 2016, between the two companies and brings Passoã entirely under the purview of Lucas Bols. In February 2020, Bols redesigned the 18% abv Passoã brand, giving it a new label, bottle, and logo.
