May 17, 2021•Diageo has unveiled a new Collaboration Center in Stamford, Connecticut. Intended to complement the company’s existing Innovation Lab, the 17,000-square-foot facility is aimed at providing members of Diageo’s network with enhanced insights on the trends shaping the beverage alcohol industry. The Collaboration Center will provide individualized educational experiences, and visitors may interact with live resident mixologists about emerging trends in the on-premise, among other features. Additionally, virtual reality technology will make the Center accessible for those unable to visit in person. “The Diageo Collaboration Center will be a gamechanger, transforming the way we share insights, collaborate, and generate new opportunities with our customers, distributors and agency partners,” said Claudia Schubert, Diageo’s president of U.S. Spirits and Canada.
•Angel’s Envy has announced a new, limited-edition whiskey hitting shelves in time for Father’s Day. For this special edition—the third in the distillery’s Cellar Collection—Angel’s Envy finished the whiskey in Madeira casks before bottling at 50% abv. Only 3,360 bottles are launching in all, with 400 bottles set aside for sale at the company’s distillery and 600 for sale to members of Angel’s Envy 500 Main club. The remainder will be available in select retailers in Kentucky, New York, California, Florida, Tennessee, Illinois, and Texas at a suggested price of $230 a 750-ml. Angel’s Envy is part of the Bacardi portfolio. The brand was up 31% to 150,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Minneapolis, Minnesota-based O’Shaughnessy Distilling Company has appointed David Perkins, founder of High West Distillery, as an advisor and liquid collaborator at the fledgling craft distillery. Perkins is another major veteran addition to the O’Shaughnessy team. In his new role, he will work closely with the company’s master distiller, Brian Nation, formerly of Irish Distillers, on O’Shaughnessy’s Keeper’s Heart brand. The first Keeper’s Heart whiskey will be released on July 12.
•Winesellers Ltd. is introducing Mont Gravet Rosé in a new 3-liter box. The wine, made from Cinsault and packaged at 12% abv, is made from grapes grown in France’s Languedoc region. The new format will be available across the U.S. and will retail for around $25 a box, joining the Mont Gravet Rosé 750-ml. bottles, which retail for around $10.
•Actor Nick Offerman and Diageo-owned Lagavulin Single Malt Scotch Whisky have extended their partnership, with the distillery releasing a new Lagavulin Offerman Edition for Father’s Day 2021. The 11-year-old whisky spent four months finishing in Guinness barrels from Maryland’s Open Gate Brewery before bottling at 46% abv. Lagavulin Offerman Edition: Guinness Cask Finish will retail at around $80 a 750-ml. and will be available for a limited time nationwide. The company has also released a new video in the “Lagavulin: My Tales of Whisky” series, which also features Offerman.
