June 15, 2021•Cannabis-infused beverage producer House of Saka has introduced Saka Spark Mimosa, packaged in single-serve, 187-ml. (6-ounce) Champagne-style bottles with a micro-dose of 5mg of full-spectrum THC per bottle. The new offering is a blend of alcohol-removed premium California sparkling Chardonnay with natural essence of orange blossom, nectarine and a live resin of the Mimosa cannabis strain, in addition to its organic cannabis emulsion. The new entry joins Saka Pink and Saka White in the brand range.
•Santa Barbara, California-based cannabis distributor Herbl has acquired Blackbird, a cannabis distributor and DTC software company based in Nevada. The move establishes Herbl’s presence in Nevada’s recreational market and also gives them access to Blackbird’s proprietary ecommerce platform, BlackbirdGo, which will be integrated in Herbl’s retail services moving forward. “Blackbird has played an instrumental role in creating a modern and sophisticated cannabis market, and their insights will be an asset to Herbl’s long-term growth,” said Mike Beaudry, founder and CEO of Herbl. Terms were not disclosed.
•Tilray is launching a new medical cannabis brand, its first new product line since merging with Aphria. The new label is called Symbios and was developed to provide a broader spectrum of formats and cannabinoid ratios at a better price point across an assortment of products, including flower, oils, and pre-rolls. Symbios flower is currently available in a variety of strains including Treasure Island, Sour Kush, and Grower’s Blend that were grown at Tilray’s facility that produces Aphria-branded flower, with the difference that Symbios flower was grown for slightly lower potency—between 15%-18%—while Aphria brand flower starts at 18% and up.
•Miami, Florida-based wine and spirits distributor WEBB Banks has formed WB Canna Co. & Wellness, a wholly owned subsidiary focusing on CBD and wellness products. WB Canna Co is launching with a portfolio that includes cbdMD, one of the largest CBD companies whose portfolio includes numerous form factors and celebrity partners; Docklight Brands, which represents Marley CBD and The Goodship CBD confections; and Secret Nature. WB Canna will distribute to Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Aruba, Jamaica, and Bermuda. The company is led by Phillip Jarrell, who has been with WEBB Banks for 10 years.
