Exclusive: Jennifer Lopez, Ken Austin, Jenna Fagnan, And Beam Suntory Partner To Launch Delola Cocktails
April 5, 2023Jennifer Lopez has partnered with several industry heavy hitters to launch a new ready-to-serve cocktail brand called Delola. The actress cofounded the brand with Ken Austin and Jenna Fagnan, and Beam Suntory is a minority investor and is handling global distribution. Delola will roll out in the U.S. via Beam Suntory’s national distribution partner Southern Glazer’s. Austin told SND that Delola already has over 100,000 cases on order from customers.
Created in collaboration with Lopez’s manager and business partner Benny Medina and mixologist Lynnette Marrero, the new entry is aimed at promoting easier entertaining for those with busy lifestyles. “What Jennifer is bringing to consumers is something that has been missing from the market,” said Fagnan, adding that the brand is “made with natural botanicals and without all the calories of a traditional, high-proof cocktail. Delola is what many of us have been seeking.”
Delola is debuting this month in three expressions: the vodka-based Bella Berry Spritz (10.5% abv), Tequila-based Paloma Rosa Spritz (11.5% abv), and L’Orange Spritz (10.5% abv), balancing orange and passionfruit flavors with amaro. The brand is packaged in glass bottles embossed with a crest inspired by Lopez’s hometown of the Bronx, and is launching in 750-ml. and 375-ml. sizes retailing at $23 and $12 respectively. Each serving has about 110 calories and is recommended to be served over ice.
Jessica Spence, president of the North America region at Beam Suntory, called the stake in Delola “part of our larger global RTD strategy,” describing the brand as a unique proposition and a key complement to the spirits giant’s existing portfolio.
Wayne Chaplin, CEO of Southern Glazer’s, cited Lopez’s global celebrity stature along with the well established track record of Delola’s cofounders as crucial advantages as the brand rolls out. “We have known and worked with Ken and Jenna who have created iconic brands such as Teremana Tequila with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey with Conor McGregor, and Avion Tequila,” he said. “Launching Delola created by such an iconic team will undoubtedly be another great success.”
