Champagne’s U.S. Shipments Near $1 Billion, Up 31% Since Pre-Pandemic

April 7, 2023

Champagne shipments to the U.S. totaled $998 million last year on volume of 33.7 million bottles (2.8 million cases), up by nearly one-third since pre-pandemic. Globally, Champagne shipped 325.5 million bottles in 2022, an increase of 1.5% from 2021. In value terms, shipments set a new record, garnering $6.6 billion worldwide.

“American consumers are increasingly seeking out new moments for Champagne consumption outside of celebrations or special events, contributing to this strong result,” said Gaëlle Egoroff, director of protection and appellation promotion activities at the Comité Champagne. The U.S. remains Champagne’s largest export market in both volume and value.—Daniel Marsteller
