May 31, 2023•Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits’ Bib & Tucker Small Batch Bourbon will release a new Double Char Bourbon in August.The newcomer is aged for six years in Tennessee in new white American oak, followed by a minimum of five months in a second heavily charred and smoked new barrel. The 44% abv offering will retail at $55 a bottle and will roll out nationally. Bib & Tucker’s other whiskies include a six-year-old Small Batch Bourbon at 46% abv and $55, as well as a 10-year-old Small Batch Bourbon that’s at 46% abv and $90 a bottle. As a Tennessee Bourbon, Bib & Tucker follows the Lincoln County process, with its whiskies filtered through sugar maple charcoal before going into the barrel for aging. Bib & Tucker reached 24,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Hennessy has repackaged its VSOP expression, which retails at $65 a bottle. The redesign, the product’s first in a decade, includes a sleeker silhouette, a new Hennessy VSOP shield, a new sustainable cork stopper made of natural wood, and a standout red giftbox and golden graphics, among other new elements. Despite a decline last year amid a slowdown in the Cognac category, Hennessy remains by far the category leader at an estimated 3.7 million cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
•Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey, part of the Proximo Spirits portfolio, has announced a new red wine cask-finished whiskey, the latest limited release from the distiller. Stranahan’s Red Wine Cask is a 7-year-old American single malt that spent its first four years maturing in new charred oak before a final maturation of three years in a combination of Bordeaux and Pinot Noir casks. The whiskey is bottled at 45% abv and carries a suggested price of $70 a 750-ml. Stranahan’s Red Wine Cask is now available exclusively at the company’s Denver, Colorado distillery. Stranahan’s had global volume of 20,000 cases last year.
