June 21, 2023•Lawrenceburg, Kentucky-based Four Roses Distillery is undertaking a global brand refresh, its first since 2006. Led by the Camp + King agency, the design updates include a new 3D rose emblem, an engraved rose cluster on the cork, brightened labels with gilded borders, the typeface publico, and master distiller Brent Elliott’s signature on the face of the bottle. The company’s website is also getting a facelift for a more user-friendly and cohesive browsing experience. To commemorate the changes, Four Roses is releasing a limited edition kit called The Ten Recipe Tasting Experience that includes 50ml bottles of all ten of the company’s signature Bourbon recipes, among other things, for $130, available June 30. Four Roses is owned by Japan’s Kirin.
•Japanese whisky line Hakata is coming to the U.S. Made in the century-old Hikari Distillery and aged in Fukuoka, Japan, the Hakata line comprises 10-, 12-, 16-, and 18-year-old expressions. They are distilled from 100% barley and aged in sherry casks. The line is priced from $80 for the 10-year-old to $190 for the 18-year-old; all four received scores of 90+ from Whisky Advocate. The Hakata range is imported by ImpEx Beverages and is available at select retailers.
•Wales-based Dyfi Distillery is launching its namesake gin in the U.S. market, imported by Broadbent Selections. Made using 28 botanicals, the majority of which are hand-foraged in the valley surrounding the distillery in Wales, Dyfi (pronounced “dovey”) retails at $70 a bottle and is debuting at select retailers. The Dyfi Valley is a UNESCO certified World Biosphere Reserve. The family-owned distillery was founded by brothers Pete and Danny Cameron, with the gin as its flagship product.
