July 7, 2023•Former Pernod Ricard executive Guillaume Thomas is launching Martingale Cognac in the U.S. this fall. The 18-year Pernod veteran is partnered with his cousin Amaury Thomas, who serves as master blender, as well as Andrew Weir, also formerly of Pernod, who is Martingale’s chief commercial and marketing officer. The Thomas cousins are fourth-generation operators of their own Cognac domaine, which has for years supplied other brands. Martingale marks the first branded consumer product from the family-owned estate, blended from four of Cognac’s crus, including Borderies.
•Conecuh Brands has named Steve May as vice president and general manager of its forthcoming Conecuh Ridge Distillery. The distillery is based in Troy, Alabama, where May will take the lead for distilling and guest experiences. May joins Conecuh from Brown-Forman where he served as director of marketing operations for the Jack Daniel’s Distillery. In this new role, May will report to Roy Danis, president and CEO of Conecuh Brands. The new distillery is slated to open this fall and will produce Conecuh’s Clyde May’s Whiskey brand.
