Breakthru Expands Aspect Fine Wine Unit Into New States

July 14, 2023

Breakthru Beverage Group is rolling out its Aspect Fine Wine division in several new markets. Breakthru will launch Aspect in Missouri this month. Additionally, in the mid-Atlantic markets of Delaware, Maryland, and Washington D.C., the company is boosting its fine wine business by integrating its Bacchus Importers affiliate, which it acquired in 2017.

The moves come as Breakthru reports that Aspect is seeing double-digit revenue growth in key markets including Illinois, Florida, and Arizona, and says it’s outperforming industry sales across the ultra-premium, luxury, super-luxury, and icon wine categories. Breakthru’s wine portfolio includes offerings from Duckhorn, Moët Hennessy, Wilson Daniels, Gallo, Constellation, Treasury Wine Estates, Silver Oak, Copper Cane, Kobrand, Hess Persson, Santa Margherita, J Lohr, and Fetzer, among others.

“In less than three years since we launched Aspect, we have consistently outperformed key category trends across our footprint,” said Daren Cliff, senior director of Aspect at Breakthru. “The Aspect team’s success can be credited to the expertise of our professional luxury sales experts and their prime focus on educating both on-premise and retail accounts and driving activation that fits with what consumers want.”

More investment is on the way for Aspect, with Breakthru pledging to continue building the division’s team, after expanding its workforce 75% since launching in 2021. Overall, Breakthru is the nation’s third-largest wholesaler of spirits and wine, with revenues projected at $8.2 billion this year.—Daniel Marsteller
