August 11, 2023•Dominican ultra-premium rum brand Brugal has unveiled the first installment of a limited-edition sipping rum collection, Colección Visionaria. The new rum was developed by Brugal family member and fifth generation maestra ronera Jassil Villanueva Quintana using an “aromatic cask toasting” technique. Retailing at $100 per bottle and carrying an abv of 45%, only four batches of the rare expression will be sold worldwide. Brugal is part of the Edrington portfolio and grew 11% to 106,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Delicato Family Wines is debuting the latest collaboration between Gnarly Head and American icons the Grateful Dead. The two limited edition wines—an Old Vine Zinfandel and a Cabernet Sauvignon—are both from the 2021 vintage and carry a $12 suggested retail price. The Zin features the band’s Dancing Bear imagery and the Cab sports the Dead’s “Steal Your Face” skull. Both wines are trucking out now to retailers across the U.S. Gnarly Head was at 245,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Proximo Spirits’ Maestro Dobel has struck a deal to become the official Tequila of the U.S. Open tennis championships. Maestro Dobel will be featured at a branded full-service bar inside Arthur Ashe Stadium and branded mobile carts across the tournament grounds, in addition to other exposure through the partnership. The brand has partnered with players Taylor Fritz, Aryna Sabalenka, and Dana Mathewson, the highest-ranked American wheelchair tennis player, to support the brand’s U.S. Open debut. The move extends the brand’s alignment with tennis, as Dobel also serves as the official Tequila across key tournaments including the Miami Open, BNP Paribas Open, and Western & Southern Open.
•Constellation’s Robert Mondavi Winery has opened Arch & Tower, a new hospitality experience in the historic Borreo building in downtown Napa. Arch & Tower is open Wednesday through Sunday, with a limited number of appointments available each day. It will offer four different tasting and culinary menus including The Legend Lunch, Napa Exploration, The Taste of To Kalon, and The Golden Hour. The opening coincides with a multi-year renovation of the brand’s winery on Highway 29.
