August 16, 2023•Brown-Forman has launched Jack Daniel’s Twice Barreled Special Release Heritage Barrel Rye, the latest release in the Tennessee whiskey’s Single Barrel Special Release series. The whiskey, bottled at 50% abv, is distilled from a mash of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley that is first matured in new white oak for at least five years before finishing in a heavily toasted “Heritage” barrel for more than two more years. The new release is rolling out now across the U.S. in limited quantities for a suggested price of $75 a 700-ml.
•Opici Wines & Spirits has announced a packaging update for Shipwreck Rum. The new labels highlight the ingredients used in each of Shipwreck’s rums, like Madagascar vanilla or Brazilian mango. The bottle’s neck now features nautical theming and the back label now sports a photo of brand founders Bob and Zach Brinley. The refresh, which will begin to hit shelves in September, covers the brand’s entire portfolio of eight rums, including its original vanilla-flavored release and its other flavored rums like lime and mango, among others.
•Heaven Hill has announced the spring 2023 edition of Old Fitzgerald Bottled In Bond. This season’s release was distilled between January and June 2013 and bottled after 10 years. The 50% abv whiskey is the 11th national release in the Old Fitz Bottled In Bond series and retails for a suggested price of $140. The new release will be available across the U.S. in limited quantities.
•Cream liqueur RumChata is releasing a limited edition Pumpkin Spice flavor this fall. The Spirit of Gallo brand, made with Caribbean rum, Wisconsin cream, and Mexican spices, is launching Pumpkin Spice as the latest of its flavored offshoots, which additionally include Limon, Peppermint Bark, and Coconut Cream. “Consumers continue to respond to our focus on distinct, culturally relevant flavors, and Pumpkin Spice certainly hits those marks,” said Spirit of Gallo vice president Brandon Lieb. Like the rest of the RumChata line-up, Pumpkin Spice is at 13.75% abv and is available now, priced at $25 a 750-ml.
•Proximo Spirits’ Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey has launched the latest limited edition release in the company’s Experimental Series. The new spirit, Cold Brew Cut, is made from American single malt whiskey aged for six years and two months before being proofed down with cold brew coffee from Denver’s Cooper Door Coffee, instead of using the spring water traditionally used by Stranahan’s. The whiskey is proofed down to 47% abv for bottling and is exclusively available at the distillery for $45 a 375-ml.
