Pernod Expands Bourbon Range, Launching Mary Dowling With Rabbit Hole Founder Kaveh Zamanian

August 16, 2023

Pernod Ricard and Rabbit Hole founder Kaveh Zamanian have partnered on a new joint venture, launching the Mary Dowling Whiskey Company. Based in Louisville, Kentucky and named in honor of an influential pre-Prohibition distiller, the brand includes two inaugural expressions: Tequila Barrel is a Kentucky straight Bourbon finished in Tequila barrels and bottled at 47% abv, while Double Oak Barrel is a Kentucky straight Bourbon presented at double oak cask strength, or 53.5% abv.

Mary Dowling Whiskey Company’s products are available now at select retailers in 12 markets including Kentucky, New Jersey, Florida, and Texas, among others, with Tequila Barrel priced at $75 and Double Oak Barrel priced at $130 a 750-ml. Pernod took a majority stake in Zamanian’s Rabbit Hole brand in 2019. Rabbit Hole grew 6.5% to 40,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.—Danny Sullivan
