SAFE Banking Markup Scheduled In U.S. Senate
September 19, 2023The Senate Banking Committee released a schedule of its upcoming agenda that showed a markup session for the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act on Wednesday, September 27. The session will be the bill’s first active consideration by a Senate body, an illustration of its improved chances in the chamber following recent reports that Democrats and Republicans have reached something close to a consensus on the matter. As it stands, the SAFE Banking Act has 42 cosponsors including eight Republicans and three independents.—Danny Sullivan
