Demeine Estates Expands Sparkling Portfolio With Villa Sandi

September 26, 2023

Napa Valley-based importer and marketer Demeine Estates is bolstering its sparkling stable with Italy’s Villa Sandi. Beginning in January, Demeine Estates will manage the U.S. distribution and execute the marketing of Villa Sandi’s portfolio of Proseccos from DOC and DOCG designations of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene and Asolo, as well as their wines from Collio winery Borgo Conventi.

Villa Sandi’s range includes Prosecco DOC Treviso Il Fresco Brut ($18), Prosecco DOC Rosé Brut Millesimato ($20), and Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze DOCG La Rivetta ($58). The winery typically sends around 70,000 9-liter cases to the U.S. annually.

“The legacy of the Moretti Polegato family heritage aligns exactly with our core values of representing best-in-class, family-owned wineries,” said Philana Bouvier, president of Demeine Estates. “We feel privileged to showcase these wines and elevate them to the iconic status they deserve in the United States.”

The move comes as premium-and-above imported sparklers—particularly Prosecco—continue to drive gains in the U.S. While total sparkling wine imports are expected to decline by volume this year, brands priced at least $10 a bottle are projected to propel the segment to an overall gain in dollar terms, according to Impact Databank.—Daniel Marsteller
