William Grant’s Sales Topped $2 Billion Last Year

October 2, 2023

William Grant & Sons has revealed that global sales increased 22% to £1.72 billion ($2.1b) in 2022, with profit after tax jumping 34% to £331 million ($404b). That brought the company’s performance above pre-Covid levels, despite challenges like geopolitical tensions, supply issues, and inflation. According to Impact Databank, William Grant had U.S. volume of 3.4 million cases last year, up 4%, with growth driven by Milagro Tequila, Hendrick’s gin, Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey, Reyka vodka, and The Balvenie single malt Scotch.

In terms of adding to the portfolio, William Grant & Sons USA president and managing director Paul Basford recently told SND, “We’re focused primarily on innovation, which has always been a strength of William Grant with brands like Hendrick’s, Milagro, and Monkey Shoulder.” But the company did make an acquisition play recently as well, agreeing to acquire the U.K.’s Silent Pool Distillers, known for its namesake gin, last month.—Daniel Marsteller
