•Lobos 1707 Tequila & Mezcal announced additional availability of its Limited Edition Añejo Tequila. First launched in June, the ultra-premium expression is returning with another 9,000 bottles distributed to 28 U.S. markets. Made with 100% blue weber agave, it’s aged 12-18 months in American white oak barrels then finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. Lobos 1707 Limited Edition Añejo is available while supplies last online and at major retailers such as Total Wine, BevMo, and Binny’s, among others, priced at $100 a 700-ml. Lobos 1707 launched in 2020 with backing from LeBron James.

•Diageo has announced two regenerative agriculture programs across its Tequila and Scotch brands in Mexico and Scotland respectively. The initiatives are focused on reducing the carbon emissions of farming barley and wheat for Scotch whisky and agave for Tequila. The first phase of the Scotch program will include 20 farms in three key barley and wheat sourcing regions in Scotland for brands including Johnnie Walker, Talisker, and The Singleton. The Tequila pilot will investigate how the plant holds carbon over a six to seven year growth cycle, spanning across Diageo managed farms and its network of agave producers for Don Julio, Casamigos, DeLeon, and Astral.

•Shelbyville, Tennessee’s Uncle Nearest has expanded into Cognac, purchasing Domaine Saint Martin. The estate covers 100 acres on the Charente river with 50 acres of Grande Champagne vineyards. The new project is helmed by industry vet Adrian Parker who will serve as president along with CMO Brielle Caruso and head of innovation Chauncey Hamlett. While the domaine is owned by Uncle Nearest, the company said that the new Cognac will not share branding with the company’s whiskies. More information on Uncle Nearest’s Domaine Saint Martin will be unveiled next year.

•Knights Valley, Sonoma-based Peter Michael Winery has promoted Morgan Melkonian to global sales manager. She was previously national sales manager, where she has led relations with domestic wholesalers and markets for the past eight years. With the recent retirement of Peter Kay, Morgan will now take the lead on a global scale, managing all distribution and in-market relations.
