October 27, 2023•Roselle, New Jersey-based Penelope Bourbon, which was acquired by MGP earlier this year for $105 million, has announced three new whiskey releases, now available in select markets across the U.S. The first release is Rosé Cask Finish Batch 7, a 47% abv whiskey finished in French Grenache casks ($50). The second is a rerelease of Penelope’s American Light Whiskey, this bottling 15 years old, at 64.2% abv ($90). The final release is Toasted Straight Bourbon Whiskey Batch 23-305, a 50% abv Bourbon finished in toasted new American oak barrels ($70). Following Penelope’s recent expansion into California, Michigan, Arizona, Iowa, Nevada, and Florida, the brand is now available in 41 states across the U.S.
•Campari America’s Wild Turkey has unveiled Generations, a new Bourbon and the first collaboration between the three generations of the Russell family working at Wild Turkey. The Bourbon blends 9-, 12-, 14-, and 15-year-old whiskies selected by the grandfather, father, and son trio of Jimmy, Eddie, and Bruce Russell, and is bottled at 60.4% abv. Wild Turkey Generations carries a suggested price of $450 a bottle and roughly 5,000 bottles will be released to select retailers across the U.S. In addition, Wild Turkey will make a limited number of bottles available for pre-sale through the brand’s website.
•Frankfort, Kentucky’s Buffalo Trace Distillery, part of Sazerac, has announced Eagle Rare 25, the oldest release in the brand’s portfolio. The 50.5% abv whiskey matured in Buffalo Trace’s warehouse P for 25 years with roughly 200 750-ml. bottles produced. The whiskey will be released in November to select on- and off-premise establishments globally. At retail, Eagle Rare 25 carries a suggested price of $10,000 per bottle. This new luxury release joins Eagle Rare, Double Eagle Very Rare, and Eagle Rare 17-year-old, also part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.
•Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. has appointed Mike Young as executive vice president. His three decades in the industry include time with Brown-Forman, Jim Beam, and most recently as senior vice president, spirits at Republic National Distributing Co. In his new role, he will be leading the strategic direction for Kentucky Peerless, fostering innovation, and expanding its market presence, according to the company, which is known for small-batch Bourbon and rye whiskey.
