October 30, 2023•Champagne Billecart-Salmon is introducing a vintage 2016 bubbly. The new vintage bottling is made from 100% Grand Cru vineyards, including Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims and Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs. It spent five years in the winery’s cellars. Billecart-Salmon’s 2016 vintage Champagne is rolling out now to retailers in the U.S., priced at $110 a bottle. The bubbly brand has annual U.S. volume of approximately 25,000 cases, according to Impact Databank.
•A celebratory single malt from Balcones, Ardbeg Anamorphic, and newcomers from Wild Turkey and Sagamore Spirit are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s weekly roundup. The website has all the details.
•The Dalmore has launched the Vintage Collection 2023, two new single malt whiskies from 2008 and 2005. The 2008 vintage whisky is a 15-year-old malt aged in ex-Bourbon casks, Matusalem Sherry, and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks and bottled at 45.8% abv. The 2005 vintage is an 18-year-old whisky matured in ex-Bourbon casks, Matusalem Sherry, and vintage 2005 Sherry casks. The older whisky is bottled at 49.3% abv. The pair is the third release in the Dalmore’s Vintage Collection and the 2008 vintage retails for $225 and the 2005 for $490. In the U.S., Dalmore is handled by Spirit of Gallo.
•Nikka Whisky has released the final bottling in the brand’s Discovery Series: Nikka the Grain Whisky. The newcomer is blended from grain whiskies distilled at the Miyagikyo, Nishinomiya, Moji, and Satsumatsukasa distilleries, and is bottled at 48% abv. The whisky is limited to only 2,600 bottles in the U.S. with each bottle carrying a suggested price of $175. Hotaling & Co. is Nikka Whisky’s U.S. importer.
•Sliabh Liag Distillers, producers of the Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey Collection, has named Winebow as its new distributor partner for the New York and New Jersey markets, effective immediately. The Legendary Silkie is comprised of three core expressions: The Legendary Silkie (46% abv, $44), the Dark Silkie (46% abv, $49) and the Midnight Silkie (46% abv, $52). In addition, the limited-edition Red Silkie (46% abv, $64), finished in Rioja and Ribera del Duero casks, launched in the U.S. in February. Sliabh Liag Distillers’ spirits are imported to the U.S. by Ramona, CA-based Preiss Imports.
