November 3, 2023•Dixon Dedman’s 2XO Whiskey has released Gem of Kentucky, a new limited release double matured single barrel Bourbon. The 54% abv release is selected from Dedman’s stocks of high-rye Bourbon (35% rye in the mash bill), which then matured up to an additional year in charred new American oak barrels. The first batch in what will be an annual release, Gem of Kentucky is now available in select markets in limited quantities for a suggested price of $200 a bottle.
•Ghost Tequila has appointed Chris Peddy as chief marketing officer. Peddy most recently served in the same role at Mast-Jägermeister U.S. Prior to that he spent six years at Beam, including as vice president of global brands and marketing. In his new role he’ll oversee all marketing initiatives nationally and internationally for the brand, reporting to CEO Jeff Popkin, also formerly of Mast-Jägermeister U.S. Ghost is a 100% agave spicy Tequila made with ghost peppers.
•La Pulga Spirits, based in Fort Worth, Texas, has launched its Añejo Tequila. The 40% abv spirit is aged for 18 months in ex-Bourbon barrels before bottling. The new release carries a suggested price of $75 a 750-ml. and is now available in Texas through RNDC. The company is planning for national expansion in 2024.
