•Beam Suntory has released the third iteration of Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing City Series, a collection of travel-retail exclusive offerings celebrating cities around the world. This edition—released for Frankfurt, Germany—follows New York City and Sydney, Australia in the series. The Frankfurt edition is a 55.1% abv expression of Maker’s Mark finished in a second oak barrel filled with barrel staves selected by Frankfurt tastemakers Denny Ginzel and Andreas Schoeler. The whiskey is now available in Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1 for around €100. In early 2024, Beam Suntory will release two new whiskies in the Wood Finishing City Series.

•Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has named Matthew Metz as president, central region, effective February 2024. Metz comes to this role with over 30 years of experience, starting in the early 1990s at the Jim Beam Company (now Beam Suntory), rising through the sales and marketing ranks until 20213, when he joined Glazer’s. Most recently, Metz served as Southern Glazer’s executive vice president, general manager, Texas. In his new role, he’ll lead SGWS’ business in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas and report to CCO John Wittig. Metz’s Texas replacement will be announced before February 2024.

•Preservation Distillery and Farm has released Very Olde St. Nick Winter Maple, a limited edition finished whiskey from the small batch producer. The 51% abv whiskey is made from a blend of Bourbons and ryes aged between four and seven years finished with maple and French oak. Like all of Preservation’s Olde St. Nick releases, Winter Maple is very limited, blended from only one to three barrels of whiskey. It’s now available in select locations across the distillery’s distribution footprint, while supplies last.

•White Plains, New York-based importer Paulaner USA has entered the non-alcoholic space with Paulaner Weizen Radler 0.0%, a new alcohol-free offering from the German brewer. The brew blends non-alcoholic wheat beer made with Herkules hops and a variety of malts including Pilsner, Munich, and light wheat, among others, with lemonade for an alcohol free variant of Paulaner’s already low alcohol canned grapefruit Radler. The alcohol free beer is rolling out now across the U.S.
