Uber Closes Drizly To Focus On UberEats

January 16, 2024

Uber has shut down Drizly, three years after acquiring the alcohol delivery app for $1.1 billion. Uber will still offer alcohol delivery, now exclusively through the UberEats app. According to Axios, the shut down may be related to Drizly’s 2020 hack that exposed the personal information of roughly 2.5 million customers and resulted in the FTC restricting the kinds and amounts of personal information the app was able to collect. Drizly, the FTC learned during its investigation, was aware of the security issue that allowed the breach for two years and did not fix it.—Shane English
