January 25, 2024•Onda, known for its namesake Tequila seltzer, is now launching a full-strength Tequila. Retailing at $30-$35, depending on the market, Onda Tequila Blanco is an additive-free offering made from 100% blue agave and double-distilled in copper pot stills. Onda’s Tequila Seltzer is estimated to have increased 7.5% in 2023 to 280,000 nine-liter case equivalents, according to Impact Databank.
•Dallas-based Zamora Company has launched Thunder Bitch Canadian Whisky Liqueur. The spirit will launch in partnership with Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate in Las Vegas, held during the Super Bowl. The 30% abv liqueur blends Canadian whisky with cinnamon and chili flavors to create a sweet and spicy drink aimed at the shot occasion. Thunder Bitch carries a suggested price of $18 and, after its Las Vegas launch, will roll out across the U.S. over the next few months.
•Louisville, Kentucky’s Buzzard’s Roost Sipping Whiskey has released a new American whiskey. The 52.5% abv bottling is made from a mash of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley that’s aged in used barrels that previously held Buzzard’s Roost whiskies. The sourced whiskey aged for at least three years in these reused barrels before bottling. Buzzard’s Roost American Whiskey is aimed at the on-premise and sells at a more affordable price point, $40 a 750-ml., than the rest of the brand’s portfolio.
•Owensboro, Kentucky’s Green River Distilling Co. has announced a new rye whiskey, set to hit shelves in early February. Green River Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey is made from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and blended from barrels aged four to six years. It’s bottled at 47.5% abv and carries a suggested price of $35. The new rye joins a wheated Bourbon, a more traditional Bourbon, and a single barrel Bourbon in the brand’s portfolio. Green River Distilling is part of Bardstown Bourbon Co.
