•Baron Philippe de Rothschild has named New York-based Turquoise Life as exclusive U.S. importer of Mouton Cadet. “USA is and will remain a strategic market,” said Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, chairman and CEO of Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA. “We’re very excited about the potential of this great collaboration and look forward to Turquoise’s expertise in establishing Mouton Cadet as a key player in the U.S. market.” The Mouton Cadet range includes organic red, white, and rosé Bordeaux wines, and has been at around 35,000 cases in the U.S. in recent years, according to Impact Databank.

•California’s Tensley Wines is introducing Syrah Lite ($20), billed as a lighter-bodied option meant to be served at a cooler temperature. The wine is harvested earlier, resulting in lower sugar and therefore lower alcohol levels (13% abv), compared to the full-bodied Syrahs Tensley is known for. The grapes are farmed using organic methods with a six-day maceration and six months of aging in neutral barrels. Tensley’s Syrah Lite is currently available in NY and NJ, or through the winery’s tasting room in Santa Barbara, with national distribution rolling out throughout the year.

•Breakthru Beverage has appointed Jeff Roth as executive vice president, taking charge of the Maryland and Washington, D.C. markets. Roth stepped into the role at the beginning of the month, following the retirement of Jeff Scarry. Prior to leading BBG’s business in Maryland and D.C., Roth was executive vice president, integration lead for Breakthru California, guiding the company’s acquisition of Wine Warehouse. Before that, Roth led Bacchus Imports. In his new role, Roth will work closely with Will Fulghom, region president, East U.S.
