March 29, 2024•Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has opened a new Enterprise Data Center of Excellence aimed at harnessing data and artificial intelligence to drive business, led by chief digital officer Alan Wizemann and overseen by chief growth officer David Chaplin. In addition to existing SGWS leadership taking charge, the company has hired three new executives specifically for the center. Tom Kornegay is vice president, head of data, analytics, and insights, and joins from VF Corporation. Serving as senior vice president, head of data science, AI & machine learning is Duan Peng, who joins from Warner Bros. Discovery. The third new hire is Bharathi Sampangi, vice president, data platforms and services, who joins from Yohana. Finally, Southern has made an internal shift for the new center, naming Thomas McDevitt senior vice president, head of industry and supplier data.
•Résonance, the Carlton, Oregon winery from French producer Louis Jadot, has released Founder’s Blocks Pinot Noir. The wine is made from Pinot Noir selected from the best blocks of two adjacent vineyards: the original Résonance vineyard, originally planted in 1981, and Jolis Monts, an adjoining vineyard the company acquired in 2015. Founder’s Blocks Pinot Noir is now available in select retailers across the U.S. for a suggested price of $75 a bottle.
