More States Rein In Hemp THC Products
April 9, 2024Lawmakers in Georgia have passed a new bill to restrict sales of hemp-derived products—both intoxicating and not—to consumers over 21 years old. The bill, the Georgia Hemp Farming Act, has passed both the state Senate and General Assembly and is set to be signed by governor Brian Kemp. The bill also contains provisions requiring new registration and product testing for hemp-growers and producers.
Meanwhile, in Iowa, the governor is poised to sign a bill that limits consumable hemp-derived products to 4mg of THC per serving and 10mg of THC per package, as well as setting an age limit of 21 and requiring warning labels on such products. That measure is part of a package that also will double the number of medical cannabis licenses available in the state.
