Foley’s Spirits Expansion Continues, As Company Adds Loch Lomond Scotch Whiskies

April 10, 2024

Bill Foley is continuing to add to his company’s spirits portfolio at a rapid clip, with the news this morning that Foley Family Wines will become the exclusive importer for Scotland’s Loch Lomond Group. Loch Lomond is an independent distiller and blender with holdings including the Glen Scotia, Loch Lomond, and Littlemill distilleries, each among the oldest in Scotland.

The portfolio Foley will import to the U.S. includes Loch Lomond Single Malt Scotch whisky, Glen Scotia Single Malt Scotch whisky, Littlemill Single Malt Scotch whisky, Spearhead Single Grain Scotch whisky, Ben Lomond Scottish Gin, and Champagne Piaff. Lomond’s offerings have previously been handled by Stoli Group and Blue Ridge in the U.S. Chief executive Colin Matthews, a former executive with Imperial Tobacco, said, “This is the right time for us to change strategic direction.”

“The addition of these fine Scotch whiskies and premium spirits will naturally complement our super-premium and luxury wine and spirits brands as we continue to elevate our offerings to our customers and consumers,” said Foley Family Wines president Shawn Schiffer. “We are excited to enter the important Scotch whisky category.”

The addition of Loch Lomond continues an expansion drive in spirits for Foley. Just last week the company entered the Tequila category with the El Mexicano brand. Prior to that, it launched Minden Mill Distilling, Charles Goodnight Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey, and New Zealand’s Lighthouse Gin. Early this year, Foley tapped Balcones Distilling founder Chip Tate to lead spirits innovation at the company.

In addition to the growing spirits business, Foley says its 1.8-million-case wine portfolio now ranks among the top 10 U.S. wine ranges in the $15-plus category, and is among the fastest-growing players.—Daniel Marsteller
