April 23, 2024•Italy’s Zaccagnini is extending its Tralcetto lineup with a new bottling, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC Riserva. The newcomer is made from Montepulciano grapes cultivated in the vineyards of Bolognano, located close to the winery. It’s matured for at least 18 months in barriques before undergoing an additional six months of bottle aging. Zaccagnini’s Tralcetto range also includes Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo, and Pecorino.
•The Boston Beer Company is targeting the non-alcoholic beverage market with General Admission. The new line comes in four flavors—Lemon-Lime, Orange Ovation, Grapefruit Groove, and Raspberry Remix—all at less than 0.5% abv. The brand as billed as a mix between a non-alcoholic beer and fruited seltzer water. It’s now available in Indiana; Albany, New York; and Raleigh, North Carolina in retailers and for DTC shipping in 28 states across the U.S.
•New Jersey-based importer and marketer Worldwide Libations is adding to its portfolio with an exclusive deal to handle the offerings of Friulian winery Eugenio Collavini in the U.S. The collection of wines includes Collio Pinot Grigio ($20); Friulano ($20); Refosco ($20); Broy, Collavini’s flagship blend of Friuliano, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon ($75); and a sparkling blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio, Il Grigio ($24). The family-owned Collavini is led by fourth-generation Luigi and Giovanni Collavini, guided by their father Manlio.
•Industry veteran Rene Armas has launched Whiplash, a new whipped cream flavored whiskey. Retailing at $27 a bottle, Whiplash is distributed across 14 states, with another 11 markets coming online in the second quarter. Armas was part of the Pinnacle vodka team at White Rock Distilleries, which launched a whipped cream flavor that helped the brand soar to 3 million cases before it was sold to Beam Suntory. Whiplash has gotten off to a fast start, selling nearly 10,000 cases in its first four months.
