•Lawmakers in California are considering legislation that would bring together both the hemp and cannabis industries, while also increasing restrictions on the types of hemp-derived THC products allowed on the market. Assembly Bill 2223, introduced by Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, the Assembly’s majority leader, passed in May, and would bring hemp-derived products into California’s state compliance system alongside cannabis products. It would also ban synthetic cannabinoids with altered molecular structures entirely.
