Wente Enters The Champagne Category

July 11, 2024

California winemaker Wente Family Estates is set to enter the Champagne market with a new deal to import the Castelnau brand. Part of the Terroirs et Vignerons de Champagne group, which also includes the Nicolas Feuillatte and Henriot brands (handled by Ste. Michelle and Jackson Family Wines in the U.S. respectively), Castelnau is making its debut in the U.S. market.

The Champagne Castelnau range in the U.S. will include Brut cuvée ($55), Brut Rose cuvée ($70), and the 2008 vintage of Brut Blanc de Blancs ($90). The Champagnes will launch in select markets this fall, aimed at upscale restaurants, luxury hotels, and fine wine retailers. Wente’s flagship Wente Vineyards brand has U.S. volume of approximately 400,000 cases annually. —Daniel Marsteller
