•Breakthru Beverage has named Fritz Stresau as the new leader of the distributor’s Aspect Fine Wine portfolio. In his new role as senior director Stresau will take charge of Aspect’s plans to further develop and grow Breakthru’s dedicated fine wine group. Stresau comes to the role with nearly two decades of wine industry experience, most recently leading Breakthru Florida’s Aspect Fine Wine team. As the leader of Aspect nationally, Stresau will report to Adam Pizer, senior vice president, supplier business development.

•Austria’s Mozart Distillerie is introducing Mozart Coconut Chocolate Liqueur in the U.S. market, a new permanent addition to its range. Made with cocoa from West Africa and Fair Trade vanilla from Madagascar, the 15% abv liqueur is rolling out nationwide, retailing at $30 a 750-ml. In the Mozart portfolio, it joins Chocolate Cream, Dark Chocolate, White Chocolate, Coffee Chocolate, Strawberry Chocolate, and seasonal offering Pumpkin Spice. The brand is imported by New Jersey-based Marussia Beverages.

•Santa Teresa 1796, part of the Bacardi portfolio, has launched Arabica Coffee Cask Finish, the latest release from the Venezuelan rum producer. The 46% abv rum starts as the brand’s flagship Solera-aged rum before spending three months finishing in American oak barrels that previously held a rum-based cold brew coffee. Santa Teresa Arabica Coffee Cask Finish is now available in both retail and online channels where it sells for $60 a 750-ml. This latest release sits alongside Santa Teresa’s flagship rum and a Speyside whisky cask finished offering. Santa Teresa had U.S. volume of 32,000 cases last year, according to Impact Databank.

•Clarification: Regarding yesterday’s story on the combination of Gonzalez Byass USA and Carolina Wine Brands, the transaction is not a straight acquisition. To clarify, the Carolina Wine Brands portfolio has been transferred to Gonzalez Byass USA and Carolina Wine Brands parent Vina Santa Carolina of Chile will have a minority share in Gonzalez Byass USA.
