News Briefs for July 30, 2024
July 30, 2024•DISCUS and the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission (ASMWC) have sent a joint letter to the TTB urging the bureau to finalize its standards for American single malt whiskey. The letter comes two years after the TTB’s notice of proposed rulemaking to establish standards for the category. “This new standard will establish trust in the category, clarify label declarations, and equip consumers with the necessary information to make informed purchasing decisions,” the letter reads. American single malts continue to rise within the whiskey category, with distillers from Jack Daniel’s and Beam to Bulleit and Westland taking part, among others.
