August 15, 2024•Palm Bay International is launching a new flavored gin from the Drumshanbo Gunpowder brand. The new bottling from the Irish gin label is Drumshanbo Gunpowder with Brazilian Pineapple. Retailing at $37 a 750-ml., it’s debuting nationwide at select retailers in September. Made by PJ Rigney at The Shed distillery in Drumshanbo, Ireland, the Drumshanbo gin brand had U.S. volume of 60,000 cases last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Four Roses, Chattanooga Whiskey, and Woodinville Whiskey have all launched new Bourbon releases, including Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch, Chattanooga Harvest, and Woodinville 8 Year Old. Whisky Advocate takes a look at the newcomers on offer from these three American distilleries.
•Evanston, Illinois-based Few Spirits, part of Heaven Hill’s Samson & Surrey craft portfolio, has released Chicago Smokeworks whiskey, a tribute to the city’s rebirth in the years following the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The whiskey is made from a blend of Cherrywood smoked malted barley and rye and bottled at 46.5% abv. Chicago Smokeworks is rolling out now across Few’s 34-market distribution footprint and carries a suggested retail price of $50 a 750-ml.
•New Jersey-based Penelope Bourbon has released this year’s edition of Penelope Valencia. The whiskey begins as Penelope’s Four Grain Straight Bourbon Whiskey, finished in Vino de Naranja casks from Sevilla, Spain. Bottled at 47.5% abv, it has a mashbill of 74% corn, 7% rye, 16% wheat, and 3% malted barley, and is finished for up to 12 months in Vino de Naranja casks. Retailing at a suggested minimum of $80 a 750-ml. bottle, Penelope Valencia is being released in an allocation of 5,000 six-pack cases. Part of MGP’s Luxco unit, Penelope grew 64% to 53,000 cases last year, according to Impact Databank.
