News Briefs for September 17, 2024
September 17, 2024• Rémy Cointreau’s Mount Gay has announced its newest Single Estate Series rum, the second release in the high-end collection. The rum, called 24_02_Vt18d2, is a pot still distilled rum aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and bottled at 55% abv. The first half of the rum’s designation marks the release year and that this is the second release in the series, while the second half denotes that it is made from sugar cane from the 2018 vintage and is a blend of two different rums. The Single Estate Series 24_02_Vt18d2 is available in select markets in limited quantities in 700-ml. bottles for a suggested price of $400. Last year, Mount Gay was at 125,000 cases in the U.S. according to Impact Databank.
• Keeper’s Heart, the Minnesota-based brand blending the Irish and American whiskey styles, is launching a 21-Year-Old Irish Single Malt finished in Tokaji barrels. Selected from the stocks of Cooley Distillery, the limited edition is the first in a yearly series of luxury expressions curated by master distiller Brian Nation, each featuring a special barrel finish. The current release celebrates the official halfway mark to St. Patrick’s Day. Retailing at $999 a 700-ml., Keeper’s Heart’s new 21-year-old is available for presale this month ahead of distribution to select retailers and the brand’s online shop in October.
