September 18, 2024•Suntory Global Spirits has brought back Basil Hayden 10 Year, making the previously-limited whiskey the latest permanent addition to the Basil Hayden portfolio. The whiskey is made from the brand’s standard high-rye mash bill and is bottled at 40% abv. The release carries a suggested price of $85 a 750-ml. in retailers across the U.S. Last year, Basil Hayden was at 502,000 cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
•Fernet-Branca has launched the Record Label, a new limited edition bottling of the company’s namesake bitter. The release celebrates the end of the brand’s Secret Handshake promotional tour with an augmented reality experience tied to the limited edition bottling. The AR programing, created by Brooklyn-based creative agency Madwell, is called Fernetwork TV and features Fernet-Branca mascot Fernando. The Record Label is now available at select retailers across the U.S. for a suggested price of $40 a bottle. Last year, Fernet-Branca reached 89,000 cases in the U.S., up 4.3%, according to Impact Databank.
•New Orleans-based brand incubator Sidewalk Side Spirits, founded by industry veteran John Eason, is debuting Hardhide Chilton County Peach Whiskey. Rolling out across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Kentucky—with more states to come online as inventory becomes available—the newcomer is made with peaches from Alabama’s Durbin Family Farms, three-year-old wheat whiskey, and light American whiskey. Carrying an abv of 43%, it’s blended and bottled at Sugarfield Distillery in Gonzales, Louisiana. The new extension joins Hardhide’s Ponchatoula Strawberry Whiskey in the brand’s lineup. The Sidewalk Side Spirits portfolio also includes Gambino’s King Cake Rum Cream.
•Chihuahua, Mexico-based Acrónimo Spirits has launched its namesake sotol in the U.S. Founded by Alessandra Camino Creel, Acrónimo is debuting with an 84-proof additive-free Sotol Blanco in Florida and California through Park Street. The 700-ml retails for $60 and will also be available through Flaviar. Acrónimo Sotol Blanco is made from two varieties of the Dasylirion plant and is designed to be a lighter, more approachable sotol targeting a younger, more diverse spirits drinker.
