McConaughey’s Pantalones Tequila Hits 70,000 Cases In First Year
October 28, 2024Pantalones Tequila has reached 70,000 cases in the U.S. in its first 12 months on the market, following the brand’s national expansion in September through Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. The brand, founded by Matthew and Camilla McConaughey and spirits entrepreneur Andrew Chrisomalis, is certified organic and bottled at 40% abv, with the Blanco retailing for $40, the Reposado for $45, and the Añejo for $50.
“We launched Pantalones Organic Tequila last October in a limited fashion and we are thrilled that it’s really resonating with consumers,” said Chrisomalis, the company’s co-founder and chairman. According to Chrisomalis, the early days of the brand’s national push are going well, with Pantalones seeing broad growth across the U.S. Texas, the brand’s (and Matthew McConaughey’s) home state, is a standout market, with Chrisomalis adding that “New Jersey and Georgia are off to an especially great start.”
Currently, the brand’s growth is mainly in the off-premise, where Chrisomalis tells SND that Pantalones is seeing rapid expansion. “On-premise is just getting started,” he says. “We’re excited about our distinctive product and positioning, and how that is translating to creative cocktails on menus.”—Shane English
