November 6, 2024•Suntory Global Spirits has announced a new limited 16-year-old bottling of Old Grand-Dad. The whiskey is bottled at 50% abv and made from a high-rye mashbill, like all of the Old Grand-Dad bottlings. The new release is available in select retailers across the U.S. Old Grand-Dad 16-year-old carries a suggested price of $195 a 750-ml. Old Grand-Dad was up 28% to 135,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•2XO Whiskey, part of the Prestige Beverage Group portfolio, is launching this year’s edition of Gem of Kentucky, the brand’s double-barreled single barrel release. Master blender and founder Dixon Dedman selected 80 barrels of high-rye Bourbon for finishing in new charred oak barrels for up to a year. The whiskey is bottled at 54% abv and carries a suggested price of $200 a 750-ml. This second edition of Gem of Kentucky is rolling out now to select retailers across the U.S.
•Viña Concha y Toro’s Bonterra Organic Estates has named Kate Herbert as senior director of marketing for the brand. In her new role, Herbert will have the entire brand portfolio under her purview, including Bonterra, the Bonterra Estate Collection, and the Single Vineyard Collection, which is anchored by The Butler, The McNab, and The Roost. She joins from General Mills, where she was in charge of integrated marketing communications for brands like Nature Valley, Lärabar, and Fiber One, among others. Bonterra was at 470,000 cases for 2023, with the brand growing 8% in Circana channels through the first three quarters of 2024.
•New York-based importer and distributor Banville Wine Merchants has added Oregon-based Maison Noir Wines to its portfolio on a national basis, effective in January. Founded by sommelier André Hueston Mack, Maison Noir is known for accessibly positioned brands with playful labels, including OPP, Knock on Wood, Love Drunk, Touche, P-Oui, XL, and Horseshoes & Handgrenades, along with more recent additions like Bastardo Jackson, Free Gamay, and Gamma Ray. The brand joins wines from Italy, Argentina, Austria, France, Germany, New Zealand, and the U.S. in Banville’s portfolio. Banville has direct distribution operations in New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, and Oregon as well as an agency in Toronto, Ontario.
