•Riboli family matriarch Maddalena Riboli passed away, recently a few days shy of her 102nd birthday. Born Maddalena Satragni in Mombaruzzo in Piemonte, Italy, she married fellow Italian immigrant Stefano Riboli in 1946. The Ribolis established 12 satellite wine tasting rooms in Southern California in the 1960s, and then Maddalena Restaurant in 1974, within the San Antonio Winery in Los Angeles. Over the years, Maddalena led a 50-year growth plan that expanded the family’s vineyards to over 2,000 acres across California’s premier wine regions, including Napa Valley, Paso Robles, and Monterey. Today the Riboli family portfolio includes 4-million-case Stella Rosa, as well as estate wineries like San Simeon, Maddalena, Highlands 41, and Opaque.
