MGP Names Gall As Interim CEO, Donn Lux as Chairman

December 20, 2024

MGP Ingredients has appointed current CFO Brandon Gall as interim CEO, effective January 1, succeeding David Bratcher, who is also resigning from the board at the end of this year. Additionally, the company has named industry veteran Donn Lux as chairman, succeeding Karen Seaberg.

Lux will lead the board’s search for a new permanent CEO. “Donn’s decades of branded spirits experience, vision, and leadership uniquely positions him to guide MGP toward becoming a premier branded spirits company,” said Seaberg, who will remain on the board.

The changes come amid a difficult period at MGP, which reported consolidated sales down 24% to $162 million for the three months through September, blaming a softening American whiskey market for the decline. In recent days the company was hit with a class action lawsuit claiming it misled investors as to the depth of its challenges.

MGP acquired Lux’s Luxco company for $475 million in 2021, with Luxco becoming the branded division of MGP. The group’s branded stable includes Ezra Brooks, Rebel, Blood Oath, David Nicholson, Daviess County, Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Penelope Bourbon, Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey, and Rossville Union Straight Rye Whiskey, as well as El Mayor, Exotico, and Dos Primos Tequilas, among others.—Daniel Marsteller
