New Zealand’s Giesen 0%, imported to the U.S. by Opici Wines & Spirits, continues to make inroads in the non-alcoholic wine category, capturing over 50% of the premium non-alcoholic still wine category in Nielsen channels for the 52 weeks ending November 2. Year-to-date through December 7, the non-alcoholic brand was up 39.3% by volume and 41.8% by value in Nielsen channels. According to Impact Databank, Giesen 0% grew 150% to 78,000 cases in the U.S. last year. Also including its traditional wines, the total Giesen brand reached 165,000 cases. Provençal winery Chateau La Coste has released Nooh, a new line of high-end non-alcoholic wines, in the U.S. The new line’s name is a portmanteau created from the word “no” and “OH,” the common chemical symbol for alcohol, and is pronounced “new,” according to the company. The line debuts with still and sparkling white and rosé wines, with the still wines carrying a suggested price of $30 a bottle and the sparklers priced at $43.
