Cannabis Briefs for December 24, 2024

December 24, 2024

Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro has signaled that he will include cannabis reform in his next budget proposal, the third time Shapiro has made this request. This year, however, cannabis reform in the Keystone State appears more likely, with state legislators more open to adult-use sales given the successes in surrounding states like New Jersey, Ohio, and Maryland. While the state’s conservative lawmakers are not voicing full-throated endorsement for adult-use sales, Democratic state representative Dan Frankel recently told local media some Republican legislators are resigned to adult-use sales and may accept launching a state-run cannabis market to bring in tax revenue and ensure consumer safety.

The Cannabist Company has teamed up with retired wrestler Ric Flair to launch Ric Flair Drip in Delaware. The partnership will debut in three Columbia Care dispensaries in Delaware with potential for further expansion following adult-use sales beginning next year. The partnership will extend to new states in 2025. The companies are launching all-in-one 1-g. vape pens as well as cartridges in flavors like Love Afflair, Mango Mania, Strawberry Strut, and Relaxed AG. The Ric Flair Drip brand is a part of Carma HoldCo Inc., the company behind brands from Mike Tyson and Future.
