Bronco Wine Co. has acquired a set of brands and a production facility from California’s Wine Hooligans at auction. Previously Bronco was the majority shareholder in Wine Hooligans but has now taken full control of the Portlandia, Shortbread, Broadside, and Sea Monster brands, as well as a production facility in Santa Rosa. According to Bronco, most of Wine Hooligans’ employees will stay onboard. Wine Hooligans’ volume has been around 200,000 cases in recent years. The portfolio now joins Bronco’s stable, which includes brands such as Charles Shaw, Crane Lake, and Redwood Vineyards, among others.

•Fallon, Nevada’s Frey Ranch has introduced the latest release in its single grain series, 100% Barley Whiskey. Distilled entirely from two-row unmalted barley, the whiskey ages for four years and eight months before bottling at 55% abv. Frey Ranch 100% Barley Whiskey is available for $60 in 375-ml. bottles via the company’s website and in Frey’s tasting room. Other entries in the Frey single grain series include Frey Ranch American Single Malt Smoked Whiskey, Frey Ranch 100% Malted Corn Whiskey, Frey Ranch 100% Oat Whiskey, and Frey Ranch 100% Wheat Whiskey.

•Napa Valley-based Gamble Estates is debuting sub-appellated Oakville, Mount Veeder, Rutherford, and Yountville estate wines made by owner Tom Gamble in collaboration with Philippe Melka and Maayan Koschitzky of Atelier Melka. Along with the new releases, the Gamble portfolio—also including a Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, as well as a Napa Valley Cabernet—is receiving a new look with fresh labels and lighter-weight bottles. The winery owns 175 acres of vineyards in Oakville, Mt. Veeder, Rutherford, and Yountville.
