  • New York-based retailer and auction house Zachys says it has received an undisclosed private investment to fuel its business moving forward. Concurrently, Zachys has appointed Eileen Rizzo as permanent CEO. Succeeding Jeff Zacharia, who will continue as chairman, Rizzo has led Zachys on an interim basis since last summer. Andrew McMurray will continue as president. “We have a unique opportunity to build on our legacy of exceptional service and unparalleled selection, while also embracing innovation and new avenues for growth across both our retail and auction platforms,” said Rizzo, who was previously Zachys chief information officer and has also held leadership positions with Macy’s Inc. and JC Penney. Zachys has total revenue of above $100 million.
  • Hotaling & Co.’s Hirsch Select Whiskeys has released the Departure, the first American single malt whiskey from the brand. The newcomer is made from Maris Otter barley and ages for six years and nine months before bottling at 49% abv. The Departure carries a suggested price of $75 a 750-ml. and is limited to 1,350 bottles available in California, Illinois, Texas, Louisiana, and Colorado.
  • New York-based importer and distributor Banville Wine Merchants is expanding its wholesale operations to the Pennsylvania market. Pennsylvania joins New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Oregon in Banville’s wholesale footprint. Industry veterans Chris Papariello and Sue Frantz have been tapped to lead Banville’s foray into the Keystone State.
