April 22, 2025•Saga Spirits, the new whiskey company from master distiller Wes Henderson, has struck a national distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. Southern Glazer’s will oversee the distribution of Saga’s True Story Whiskey ($60, 90 proof), which includes a finished Bourbon and finished rye ($70, 100 proof), and the Brothers of the Leaf portfolio of Bourbon and rye ($80, 112 proof). The company intends to pursue a “market-by-market” strategy focused on both independent and chain retail. Henderson founded Saga Spirits with his six sons last fall.
•The Original Pickle Shot, a pickle brine-infused shot brand, has entered California, Arizona, New Mexico, Washington, and South Carolina through RNDC, building on a partnership that already included Texas, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, and West Virginia. The brand is also entering Ohio with Heidelberg Distributng Company. In total, the 30-proof brand is now available in 38 states. Additionally, The Original Pickle Shot has formally appointed Laura Becraft as CEO and Lauren Ward as COO. The duo has been advising the brand the past two years. Both are veterans of Sazerac, and Becraft also previously held key roles with The Patrón Spirits Company and Southern Glazer’s.
•Simply Spiked, the flavored malt beverage (FMB) collaboration between the Coca-Cola-owned juice brand and Molson Coors, is launching a new Tropical Variety Pack. It includes two new flavors, Signature Pineapple and Mango Pineapple. Also debuting is a new Raspberry Lemonade flavor within the Simply Spiked Lemonade Variety Pack. Both new entries are rolling out in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans this spring.
•Correction: In yesterday’s table on low-calorie wines, Kendall-Jackson Lower-Calorie Chardonnay was mistakenly referenced as being owned by The Wine Group. In fact it is owned by Jackson Family Wines.
