Rémy Cointreau Returns To U.S. Growth

April 30, 2025

Rémy Cointreau says U.S. sales turned positive in its fiscal fourth quarter ended in March, as both its Cognac and Liqueurs & Spirits divisions benefited from increases in depletions against soft comps from the previous year. Still, Rémy saw global sales fall 18% to €985 million ($1.1b) for its full fiscal year ended in March, impacted by conditions in China and destocking in the Americas over the first three quarters of the year.

The core Cognac division saw sales fall 22% to €612 million ($697m) in the year through March, including a 33% decline in the fourth quarter, “driven by a strong drop in sales across the APAC region, especially in China,” according to the company. “In contrast, the Americas—particularly the United States—rebounded sharply,” Rémy said, with Rémy Martin VSOP volumes holding steady in the fourth quarter.

The Liqueurs & Spirits unit posted sales down 10% to €353 million ($402m) for the year, but reversed in the fourth quarter with 16% growth. “The Americas region, especially the United States, generated a significant rise in sales, driven by the favorable base of comparison and the outperformance of Cointreau, St Rémy, Mount Gay, and The Botanist,” Rémy noted. The company has recently backed the Cointreau brand with a “Lime of Credit” campaign highlighting its role in the Margarita cocktail leading into the Cinco de Mayo holiday.—Daniel Marsteller
