Kobrand, Santa Margherita Name New California Distributors

June 12, 2025

The fallout from the impending departure of RNDC from the California market is ramping up, with two key suppliers announcing new distribution arrangements in the state. Breakthru Beverage Group is picking up Santa Margherita importer Herita USA, and Regal Wine Co. is gaining the Kobrand portfolio.

Regal, founded by Jackson Family Wines proprietor Barbara Banke and the late Jess Jackson, will handle the full Kobrand lineup, including Cakebread Cellars, Louis Jadot, Champagne Taittinger, The Fladgate Partnership, San Guido (Sassicaia), St. Francis, Domaine Carneros, AIX, Craggy Range, Michele Chiarlo, Tenuta di Nozzole, Montes, Lucano, and others. Kobrand’s spirits and sake collection will also be part of the partnership.

Kobrand president and CEO Marcelo Aguero is a veteran of Jackson Family Wines. “I am intimately familiar with Regal’s standards and history—and have seen firsthand their team’s performance and commitment to excellence,” he said. “We feel strongly they are the right path forward in California.”

Meanwhile, Herita USA, importer of Santa Margherita and other brands, is transitioning to the Breakthru portfolio, which also recently added Wilson Daniels in California. Breakthru will serve as Herita’s dual distributor alongside RNDC until September 3, when it will become the importer’s exclusive wholesale partner in the state.

Herita is already partnered with Breakthru in six states and Washington D.C. “We have chosen to deepen our relationship with our trusted partners Breakthru Beverage Group in California,” said Vincent Chiaramonte, Herita president and CEO. “Their extensive distribution network and commitment to quality align perfectly with our vision of delivering outstanding wines to consumers.”—Daniel Marsteller
